Eric Normand is a music industry
professional living and working in
Nashville, TN and has been involved in
music for over 30 years. Born in Salem,
Massachusetts in February of 1968, Eric
grew up in the small New Hampshire town
of Kingston about an hour north of
Boston and just a few minutes from the
seacoast. When he was 12, he was
introduced to the music of Jimi Hendrix
which promptly sent him on a lifelong
musical journey. His dad bought him a
guitar and he dug in, learning from his
mom (also a guitarist), friends, and his
fast growing collection of vinyl from
the Allman Brothers, Santana, Paul
Butterfield, and John Lee Hooker, among
others.
After high school, he attended Berklee
College of Music, where he discovered
jazz, and began a love for the music of
Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Mike Stern,
and many other Jazz greats. After
Berklee, he spent the next 15 years
playing with various rock, top-40, and
blues bands throughout New England and
Canada, while teaching guitar and bass
privately.
In June of 2002 he relocated to
Nashville, Tennessee; where he has
worked with country music legends Toby
Keith, Vern Gosdin, Daryle Singletary,
and
Rhett Akins;
with whom he is currently the lead
guitarist, band leader and tour manager.
Eric has performed in every state in the
continental U.S., he has made recent
appearances in Canada, France, and
Switzerland, and has also played on the
Grand Ole Opry numerous times.
Eric has a recording studio in his home
in Pegram TN, a suburb of Nashville
where he devotes much of his time to
writing and recording. He is currently
involved in the Nashville experimental
group "Modal West", and The Eric Normand
Trio. Modal West is an ambient mesh of
American roots music, loops, and
soundscapes . The Eric Normand Trio is
an amalgamation of all of Eric's
influences, blending Blues, Jazz, Rock,
and Funk and performs a show every other
Wednesday from 8 to
11
pm at the
12 South Tap Room
in Nashville. Both projects are
currently in pre-production for albums
scheduled to be recorded and released
early next year. |
